BUTUAN CITY – The Coast Guard Station in Dinagat Islands (CGS-Dinagat) temporarily suspended the sea trips of vessels with 250 gross tonnages below due to rough seas on Thursday morning.

The warning issued by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Service Administration (PAGASA) indicated that Dinagat Islands and the eastern seaboards of Surigao del Norte were experiencing rough to very rough sea conditions due to strong to gale-force winds that continue to affect the area.

A separate notice of temporary suspension of travels was also issued by the CGS Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte on Thursday for sea vessels with 150 gross tonnages and below.

The suspension covered the areas of Siargao Island to Socorro and Surigao City, including travels to island barangays in the town of Del Carmen, Surigao del Norte.

Residents in flood and landslide-prone areas are warned of the possible effects of thunderstorms in the Caraga Region.

Local disaster and risk reduction management offices at the provincial, city, municipal, and barangay levels are monitoring the region's inclement weather. (PNA)
