MANILA – Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chairperson Junie E. Cua on Wednesday vowed to further improve the agency’s services to better meet the needs of the Filipinos after the PCSO was commended by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) for its “marked improvement” in attaining its 2022 Performance Scorecard targets.

According to the GCG, the PCSO reported a validated Performance Scorecard rating of 92.03 percent in 2022, which is a marked increase from its previous 56.30 percent rating.

"Kami sa PCSO ay hindi kuntento sa (We are not satisfied with the) status quo. We will strive for continued improvement para mas mapaglingkuran natin ang sambayanan (to further serve the people)," Cua said in a statement.

During the PCSO's 89th founding anniversary celebrations last Oct. 27, GCG Chairperson Atty. Marius P. Corpus highlighted the agency's exceptional performance in the previous year, which included the payment of 100 percent of the agency’s mandatory contributions required by law to all recipient agencies, and the remittance of a total amount of PHP4.75 billion, among others.

Corpus also lauded the PCSO leadership, saying he expects "steady improvement" due to the "forward-looking leadership of Chairperson Cua and General Manager [Melquiades] Robles."

Cua said he was humbled by the recognition, but emphasized that the agency owes its success to the “hardworking PCSO staff who are dedicated to serving the people.”

Cua also thanked other government agencies and oversight bodies for "their invaluable support and the enabling environment which allows the PCSO to thrive." (PNA)
