MANILA – Employees in the private sector who would report to work on Nov. 27, which was declared a regular holiday for Bonifacio Day, would receive 200 percent of their daily wage.
In Labor Advisory No. 24, series of 2023, released on Friday, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reminded employers to follow the pay rules for the holiday.
For work done in excess of eight hours, the DOLE said the company shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on that day (hourly rate of the basic wage x 200 percent x 130 percent x number of hours worked).
For work done during a regular holiday that also falls on the employee's rest day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the basic wage of 200 percent (Basic wage x 200 percent x 130 percent).
For those who will work in excess of eight hours during a regular holiday that also falls on the employee's rest day, the employer shall pay the employee an additional 30 percent of the hourly rate on said day (Hourly rate of the basic wage x 200 percent x 130 percent x 130 percent x number of hours worked).
Meanwhile, the DOLE noted that if the employee does not work, the employer shall pay 100 percent of the employee's wage for that day, provided that the employee reports to work or is on leave of absence with pay on the day immediately preceding the regular holiday.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., through Proclamation No. 90, moved the Bonifacio Day regular holiday from Nov. 30 (Thursday) to the nearest Monday, Nov. 27. (PNA)
