PIKIT, North Cotabato – A militiaman was killed by still unidentified gunmen inside a public school in Barangay Ginatilan here Wednesday morning, police said.
Maj. Arvin John Cambang, Pikit municipal police chief, identified the victim as John Rey Cabuga, 21, a Grade 11 student of the Datu Dalandag National High School annex and an active member of the Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in the area.
"He is a CAFGU member, and we have information he is also a student of the school,” Cambang said of the victim who was gunned down at about 11 a.m.
He said the victim and his companions were doing repair work inside the school campus near a covered court-cum-classroom when attacked by one of two gunmen.
The gunmen sped off on a motorbike after the incident.
Police investigation is still ongoing.
