LAPU-LAPU CITY – Residents in this historical island city of Cebu province would no longer need to go far to buy the “Kadiwa ng Pangulo” rice once a mobile van starts roaming around to bring the affordable staple food right at every poor households’ doorsteps.

Mayor Junard Chan on Friday said his office is creating the concept of Mobile Kadiwa ng Pangulo where residents could buy rice at PHP20 per kilogram without going to National Food Authority (NFA) pop-up stalls.

“You don’t need to come to us to buy your Kadiwa ng Pangulo rice. You will get them right at your doorstep,” Chan told residents of Olango Islands.

Currently, Olango Island residents can avail of the cheap rice program of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. through Kadiwa ng Pangulo pop-up stores.

Fifty sacks of NFA rice, allocated at PHP25 per kilo, were brought to Olango on Friday.

The city government subsidized PHP5 per kilo so that the staple food could be bought at PHP20 by residents.

“We should thank President BBM (Bongbong Marcos) for his effort to bring down the price of rice so that it will be affordable for all,” he added (PNA)
