CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The city government on Friday activated a Technical Working Committee (TWC) to work with foreign developers for the northern circuit component of the Mindanao Railway Project.
During his radio talk program, Mayor Rolando Uy said the city is one of the focal areas in the railway project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
"I created a TWC for this purpose because it was only this week that the DOTr visited along with the prospective funding partner, an Indian developer,” he said.
In June this year, DOTr representatives visited the city to discuss with local officials the Phase 3 of the railway project and the potentials for commuters in Misamis Oriental.
"The DOTr will prioritize construction of the Cagayan de Oro-Laguindingan route and Cagayan de Oro-Villanueva routes," Uy said, adding that the project would complement his administration’s "smart metropolization" initiatives for the city.
The Mindanao Railway Project is part of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
Aside from the Mindanao Railway Project, the TWC is also tasked to study the feasibility of the Metro CDO Light Railway Transit Project. (PNA)
