Comelec: Disqualified 2023 BSKE bets rise to 82

MANILA – The number of candidates in the recent Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) who were disqualified due to various reasons has reached 82, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Friday.

Citing data from the Office of the Clerk of the Commission, the Comelec said the number includes 48 bets who have been disqualified due to premature campaigning.

Meanwhile, 20 bets were found guilty in disqualification cases while five candidates were disqualified after their certificates of candidacy were "denied due course and/or canceled".

Another five candidates were disqualified after they were tagged as nuisance candidates.

Three candidates were disqualified due to vote buying and one for "premature campaigning and vote buying".

The disqualified candidates are from the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Bulacan, Tarlac, Iloilo, Laguna, Rizal, Pampanga, Oriental Mindoro and Metro Manila. (PNA)
