BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 13 (Caraga Region) delivered an additional 9,077 family food packs (FFPs) to Surigao del Sur for distribution to residents affected by the magnitude 7.4 tremor that struck the province on Dec. 2.

“The augmentation is in response to the growing demand for relief items for the affected families,” the DSWD-13 said in a statement Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the department released the additional FFPs to the towns of San Miguel, Lianga, Bayabas, Lanuza, and Tandag City.

The local government units are set to distribute the food packs to their respective quake-affected constituents on Wednesday.

Of the total number of boxes delivered, 1,173 were released to Tandag City, 5,774 to San Miguel, 1,438 to Lianga, 456 to Lanuza, and 236 to Bayabas.

Each FFP contains rice, canned goods, instant noodles, coffee, sugar, and milk.

The DSWD-13 said it still has 22,165 FFPs available for distribution and a standby fund amounting to PHP5 million.

It is also expecting the arrival of augmentation support, which is already in transit, from the Visayas Disaster Resource Center. (PNA)
