MANILA – Bureau of Immigration (BI) authorities have intercepted a South Korean fugitive wanted for grave threat and evaded arrest for more than a decade.
In a news release Wednesday, BI border control and intelligence unit (BCIU) deputy chief for operations Joseph Cueto said 40-year-old Yoo Hoon was intercepted at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Monday when he attempted to leave via an Asiana Airlines flight to Seoul.
Records showed that Yoo was the subject of an alert list order issued by the BI in October 2017 which directs the bureau to turn over Yoo to law enforcement authorities if he is encountered in any of the country’s ports of exit.
“We immediately turned him over to the NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) in compliance with said alert order and pursuant to an arrest warrant that was issued against him by a local court,” Cueto said.
Records showed Yoo and his co-accused are subjects of an arrest warrant issued by the Pasig City Regional Trial Court on Dec. 14, 2012 based on a complaint for grave threat that were filed against them by prosecutors. (PNA)
