SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – Antique province has recorded 2,439 business registrations last year, according to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office here.

DTI officer-in-charge Mutya Eusores said Thursday they anticipate to exceed the number of registered businesses last year, with still a few remaining days of the year.

“The business names processed are either newly opened or reopened this 2023,” Eusores said in an interview.

Micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) are leading the rising number of businesses in the province, she said, as more small business owners gear up to legalize their existence by registering them with various government entities.

Most of the MSMEs, she said, are in the food business, which was ravaged by the pandemic.

“The business name certification has only an effectivity of five years,” Eusores reminded the local business owners.

She added DTI's online registration processing of business names has become faster and more efficient.

Meanwhile, Eusores said the New Year "noche buena" products are still sufficient in Antique.

She said they continue to monitor the retailers as to their compliance to the suggested retail prices for the Noche Buena products such as ham, cheese, and spaghetti. (PNA)
