MANILA – The 2024 PhilCycling National Championships for Road presented by Standard Insurance and the MVP Sports Foundation will be held from Feb. 5 to 9 in Tagaytay City.

The announcement was made on Friday by PhilCycling president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, who is also president of the Philippine Olympic Committee.

The Top 30 riders in the Men Elite, Under 23, Juniors and Youth categories in the 2023 nationals last June will be seeded while the women races will be open to all interested riders in the five-day tournament supported by Tagaytay City, Chooks to Go and Excellent Noodles.

Also seeded are the Top 30 finishers in the Batang Pinoy-Philippine National Games held in Tagaytay City and neighboring first and third district of Batangas earlier this month.

The PhilCycling has set a maximum participation of 90 riders in the individual road race (massed start) and 60 cyclists each in the criterium and individual time trial (ITT) in Men’s Elite, Under-23 and Juniors.

The entry list will be posted on PhilCycling’s Facebook page and social media platforms.

The women’s races include individual road race, ITT and criterium for Elite, Under-23 and Juniors categories, while the Youth races will only cover criterium and ITT.

The nationals will be raced over the routes used during the recent Batang Pinoy-PNG and will be a major criterion for the selection of the national road cycling team. (PNA)
