BUTUAN CITY – The local government unit (LGU) of Buenavista in Agusan del Norte said it has started the rehabilitation of its PHP75-million JP Satorre Gymnasium and Sports Facility.

In a statement Friday, the Buenavista LGU said the rehabilitation works of the facility are expected to run within nine months.

“When completed the gymnasium will become a fully air-conditioned facility with a wooden basketball court, an electronic scoreboard, five spacious comfort rooms, a roomy backstage, and emergency exits,” it said.

Buenavista Mayor Joselito Roble said that aside from the LGU funding, the sports facility's rehabilitation received financial support from Senators Aquilino Pimentel III and Win Gatchalian, who appropriated PHP50 million and PHP25 million, respectively.

Once completed, the LGU said that the facility can offer residents a convenient and accessible space to engage in various physical activities to promote healthier lifestyles.

It said the gymnasium will also serve as a venue for training and development programs for various sports, especially the youth, and a hub for community events, tournaments, and sports competitions. (PNA)
