Unbeaten Adamson streaks to No. 8 in UAAP girls' volleyball

MANILA – Adamson University defeated De La Salle Zobel, 25-13, 25-10, 25-10, to remain unbeaten after eight games in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 high school girls' volleyball tournament at its homecourt in Ermita, Manila on Thursday.

The La Salle Junior Lady Spikers absorbed their fifth loss against three wins.

Meanwhile, Far Eastern University (FEU) - Diliman beat Ateneo High School, 25-10, 25-12, 25-13, to stay in second place with a 6-2 record.

University of Santo Tomas (UST) also bounced back from a two-game slump after posting a 25-6, 25-4, 25-8 win over University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS) to improve to 5-3.

Idle National University-Nazareth School (NU-NS) is fourth at 4-3, followed by Ateneo (1-6) and UPIS (0-8).

In the boys' division, UST ended University of the East's eight-game streak with a 29-27, 25-23, 25-16 victory.

UE, which survived UST in the first round, 23-25, 28-26, 25-18, 25-21, dropped to a tie for the lead with NU (8-1) after the Bullpups prevailed over the Junior Spikers, 25-10, 25-6, 25-10.

Defending champion FEU-Diliman, led by Season 85 Finals Most Valuable Player and captain Rhodson Du-ot, outplayed UPIS, 25-11, 25-13, 25-11, to secure solo third at 6-1.

Adamson, which clobbered Ateneo, 25-10, 25-4, 25-14, is tied for third place with UST at 5-4, followed by DLSZ (3-6), UPIS (1-8) and Ateneo (0-9). (PNA)
