CEBU CITY – A total of 167 households owned by retired military officers that were demolished from a prime lot in a village adjacent to a commercial center here will be relocated to a property owned by the Cebu provincial government.

Vice Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia on Wednesday said the retired soldiers occupying Lot No. 937 and who were displaced by the demolition in Sitio San Miguel in Barangay Apas in November 2022 will be transferred to an 8,000-square-meter lot.

“We have a fruitful meeting with Gov. Gwendolyn (Garcia) as well as the private construction firm who will develop the relocation site,” he told Philippine News Agency.

Garcia said the governor already met with officers of the Lot 937 Homeowners Association and announced to them her decision to give the lot owned by the Cebu province as their relocation site, to be paid through Pag-IBIG Fund’s home loan financing.

The Cebu provincial government and the Cebu City government agreed many years back to set aside Lot 1112 in Barangay Apas as a relocation site for the affected residents.

The relocation site is part of the 16 lots turned over by the Department of National Defense to the provincial government last year. (PNA)
