MANILA – The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday revealed its traffic and parking management plans for the "Bagong Pilipinas Kick-Off Rally" at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila slated on Jan. 28.

In an advisory, the agency said the following roads would be closed to traffic:

--Roxas Boulevard (Blvd.) from UN Avenue (Ave.) to P. Burgos Ave.
--M. Kalaw - both sides from Roxas Blvd. to Taft Ave.
--Burgos Ave. - both sides and Finance Road (Rd.)
--Orosa Street (St.)
--Bonifacio Drive (Dr.) - from Anda Circle to P. Burgos Ave.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the Rizal Park and all roads leading to the venue and take alternate routes,” the MMDA said.

A total of 914 MMDA personnel will be deployed during the event—composed of traffic personnel, road emergency group, sidewalk clearing operations, towing and impounding, and others to assist in traffic management and extend assistance to motorists and the general public.

“Ambulances, tow trucks, mobile patrol units, motorcycle units, and flood mitigation equipment, among others, will also be dispatched at designated routes,” it said.

For those going to the event, it said there will be designated parking areas for buses and cars in nearby boulevards, avenues, and other roads in Manila, Pasay, and Parañaque.

“All alternate and truck routes are being cleared for any obstruction prior to the event,” it said.

Aside from road closures, vehicular traffic will also be rerouted in nearby areas.

Northbound vehicles coming from Roxas Blvd. are advised to turn right to Quirino Ave. or UN Ave. and turn left to Taft Ave. to their destination.

Southbound vehicles from R-10 Rd. headed to Bonifacio Dr. going to Anda Circle are advised to turn left to Soriano Ave., turn right to Muralla St., turn left to Magallanes Dr., turn right to P. Burgos Ave., and Taft Ave. to their destination.

On the other hand, trucks going to North Harbor from the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) are advised to go straight to Osmeña Highway (Hwy.), turn right to Quirino Ave, straight to Nagtahan St., go to Lacson Ave., turn left to Yuseco St., straight ahead to Capulong St., and turn right to R-10 Rd. to their destination.

Trucks from the Parañaque area are advised to turn right at Quirino Ave. to Nagtahan St. and Lacson Ave. to their destination.

The traffic plans for the event were set in coordination with the Presidential Communications Office, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Manila Police District, local government units of Manila, Pasay, and Parañaque, the National Parks Development Committee, Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex, and other stakeholders.
