Singapore's education ministry offers ASEAN scholarship for Filipinos

MANILA – The Ministry of Education (MOE) in Singapore is offering the ASEAN Scholarship for Grade 9 and above Filipino students who want to pursue their studies in the Lion City.

The MOE said the scholarship is valid for four years from Secondary 3 to Pre-university 2 level.

Filipino nationals must meet the following criteria to be eligible for the ASEAN scholarship: Born between Jan. 2, 2008 and Jan. 1, 2011; currently enrolled in Grade 9 or above; and proficient in English.

Applicants must also have done consistently well in school examinations and have good record of participation in co-curricular activities.

The scholarship is subject to annual renewal based on the scholar's academic performance.

Successful candidates will enjoy a comprehensive package of benefits, including: annual allowance with hostel accommodation, settling-in allowance, return economy airfare, school fees, examination fees for GCE O-Level and A-Level (once only, as applicable), subsidized medical benefits, and insurance cover for accidents.

The deadline for applications for the ASEAN Scholarship for the Philippines is on Feb. 29.

 Shortlisted candidates will be informed at least one week in advance to attend the selection tests in Manila in March, as well as the selection interview in April.

Successful applicants will be notified via email in May.

They are set to arrive in Singapore in November. (PNA)
