Oppenheimer leads Oscar hopefuls with 13 nominations

WASHINGTON – The 96th Academy Award nominations were announced Tuesday, with Oppenheimer dominating nominations in major categories, including best picture.

In addition to best picture, the Christopher Nolan film is nominated for 13 awards, including best director, actor, supporting actor and actress and cinematography categories.

The shortlist was announced at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills by Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid.

Others leading the nominations were Poor Things and Killers of the Flower Moon, respectively earning 11 and 10 nominations, while the summer blockbuster, Barbie, received nods in eight categories.

Nominated for best picture include American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, Barbie, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Maestro, Oppenheimer, Past Lives, Poor Things and The Zone of Interest.

The awarding ceremonies will be held on March 10 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and televised live in more than 225 countries and territories.
