MANILA – Letran stamped its class over San Beda University, 21-16, 21-16, to complete a sweep of the NCAA Season 99 women’s beach volleyball at the Subic Bay Tennis Center in Olongapo City on Sunday.

Gia Marcel Maquilang and Lara Mae Silva played brilliantly to lead the Lady Knights, who won all their 11 games, including nine in the elimination round, en route to their second consecutive title and third overall.

“Siguro ang nagdala ‘yung determination ng mga batang manalo (Maybe it was the determination that brought the win)," Letran coach Michael Inoferio said after the match.

Inoferio said Maquilang and her sister, Jogi, who are both rookies, and the junior Silva will return next year for a chance at a three-peat.

Meanwhile, Perpetual Help’s Louie Ramirez and Jefferson Marapoc outplayed College of St. Benilde's Saint Marlowe Jamisola and Ar-Jay Ramos, 21-19, 21-13, to retain the men's crown.

The Altas secured their fourth crown, moving them closer to the Blazers' league-best seven titles.

In the juniors’ division, Emilio Aguinaldo College’s Alijhan Apdian and Dwayne Iverson Alin-Alin rallied past Lyceum of the Philippines’ Rodan Aguire and Ace Van Roboel Blaco, 21-17, 16-21, 15-10, to capture their fourth title. (PNA)
