BERLIN – A German union has announced that security staff will go on strike at the country’s busiest airports on Thursday amid an ongoing dispute over pay.

“As no agreement has been reached in the three rounds of collective bargaining for security staff, Ver.di has called an all-day strike at several commercial airports on Thursday,” the union said in a statement.

The Ver.di said employees in aviation security, passenger and goods control, and service areas will take part in the one-day strike in around a dozen airports, including the country’s busiest hubs in Frankfurt and Munich.

The strike will also take place in Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, and Stuttgart airports.

The union, which represents around 25,000 security staff, is demanding a 2.80 euro (USD3.04) pay rise per hour, and higher rates for overtime pay. (Anadolu)
