BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 (Caraga Region) reported a 13.7 percent decrease in index and non-index crimes from July 18, 2023 to Jan. 18, 2024.

“During the period, there were 642 index crimes and 1,889 non-index crimes, totaling 2,531 incidents,” the PRO-13 said in its report Thursday.

It noted that the total figure is lower by 405 compared to the same period in the previous year with 2,936 crime incidents, 718 of which were index and 2,218 were non-index crimes.

The PRO-13 also highlighted the reduction of murder incidents during the period from 93 to 78, homicide from 19 to 18, physical injuries from 84 to 73, rape from 207 to 200, robbery incidents from 96 to 74, and theft from 190 to 160.

In a statement Thursday, PRO-13 Director, Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, said the remarkable gains are “outcomes of the comprehensive whole-of-community approach to address threats to peace and order and criminality.”

He also recognized the contributions of all stakeholders, including communities, to ensure peace and security in the region. (PNA)
