CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – The Department of Information and Communications Technology in Northern Mindanao (DICT-10) launched here the online course program under Localized Accessible Knowledge and Inclusive Platform (Lakip) on Tuesday.

DICT-10 Director Sittie Rahma Alawi credited the partnership with Coursebank, a leading massive open online courses provider in the Philippines, for its "Lakip" platform.

"We also acknowledge the help of our DepEd (Department of Education) teachers who translated the courses. This program will not be possible without them," she said.

"Lakip," derived from the Bisaya (Visayan)  term for “inclusive,” represents a comprehensive learning management system aimed at providing a diverse range of courses carefully translated into the language.

Alawi said the first recipients of the program are the Higaonon indigenous community in Barangay Dansolihon here.

"In July (2023), the indigenous community in Barangay Dansolihon were our pilot users of Lakip," she said.

Presidential sister Aimee R. Marcos, the digital consultant of the local government here, said this was one of her suggestions with DICT and the city government to collaborate in terms of bridging technology and literacy to the communities with a better understanding of the lessons using local languages.

Marcos said that after the launching in the city, the program can expand to other localities in Mindanao and Visayas regions. (PNA)
