MANILA – Some areas in the country will experience rains caused by the easterlies and the northeast monsoon or “amihan”, the weather bureau said Thursday.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies will prevail across Eastern Visayas.

Moderate to heavy rains could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

“Amihan,” on the other hand, will bring isolated light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Ilocos Region.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the eastern section of the country will experience moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas.

PAGASA forecaster Benison Estareja said no low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is expected until the weekend. (PNA)
