San Sebastian, Perpetual share lead in NCAA juniors basketball

MANILA – San Sebastian College and University of Perpetual Help Dalta System registered easy victories on Friday to share the lead in the NCAA Season 99 juniors basketball tournament at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Ruvic Danag scored 18 points, including six each in the second and third quarters, as the Staglets clobbered the Lyceum of the Philippines Baby Pirates, 101-62, to claim their second straight victory.

The Junior Altas also made it 2-0 after demolishing the Emilio Aguinaldo College Brigadiers, 93-85. Mark Gojo Cruz had 26 points followed by Icee Callangan with 15 and Lebron Jhames Daep with 13 markers.

San Sebastian defeated San Beda University, 83-79, and Perpetual downed LPU, 89-75, on opening day.

San Beda later pulled off a stunning 88-72 victory over reigning champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

Guard Kirk Cañete had a game-high 24 points, including five three-pointers, to go with eight rebounds and five assists for the Red Cubs, who beat the Squires for the first time in five years.

Randaule Medroso and Hendric Vailoces contributed 19 and 15 points, respectively. (PNA)
