UAE offers condolences to PH over landslide deaths

ABU DHABI – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with the Republic of the Philippines over victims of the landslide that took place in the south of the country, in the Province of Davao de Oro, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries, as well as numerous missing people, and causing severe damage.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its sincere condolences to the government and people of the Philippines, and the families of the victims, as well as its wishes for a speedy recovery for all the injured.

The landslide occurred after hours of heavy rains in Masara village, Maco town around 7:50 p.m. on Feb. 6. 

Some 9.8 hectares of land were buried near the Apex Mining Company concession in Zone 1 of the village.

The death toll has climbed to 98, the municipal government said Saturday. (WAM with reports from PNA)
