MANILA – The Southern Police District (SPD) on Wednesday denied the circulating text message and audio recording about the alleged escape of three inmates from detention facilities within its jurisdiction.

"The actions taken by our intelligence operatives include checks with the SOCO (Scene of the Crime Operations) Team Makati, Guadalupe Nuevo Sub Station, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Makati City, and La Paz Custodial Facility. All reports indicate that there have been no incidents of a prison break, and all detainees are accounted for,” the SPD said in a statement.

The post particularly alerted residents of Guadalupe in Makati and the EMBO (enlisted men's barrios) villages in Taguig on the escape of three inmates facing rape, homicide, and murder charges.

The SPD urged the public to remain vigilant and rely only on verified information from official sources.

“Rest assured, our officers are actively monitoring the situation, and any updates or developments will be communicated promptly,” SPD said.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the community in sharing information responsibly and encourage everyone to refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary panic. SPD remains dedicated to maintaining public trust and providing accurate and timely information to the residents we serve,” it added.

The SPD covers the cities of Makati, Pasay, Taguig, Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa as well as the municipality of Pateros. (PNA)
