Comelec: Over 640K apply as voters since start of sign-up period

MANILA – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday said it has received 643,987 voter applications since the start of the registration period for the 2025 midterm polls.

Citing its latest data, the Comelec said these applications were filed from Feb. 12 to 24 -- 335,831 of whom are women while 308,156 are men.

Calabarzon topped the list of registrants with 115,167, followed by the National Capital Region with 95,557.

Also included in the top five regions with the most number of applicants are Central Luzon with 68,676; Central Visayas with 51,199; and Davao Region with 36,937.

The three regions that have the lowest number of applications are the Cordillera Administrative Region with 7,598; Mimaropa with 15,602 and Cagayan Valley with 19,324.

Meanwhile, there are 694 applicants that filed before the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) booth at the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila.

The Comelec is looking to register some 3 million voters during the seven-month registration period which runs until Sept. 30. (PNA)
