COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics and police arrested three persons involved in the illegal drug trade and seized PHP1 million worth of shabu here and in Marawi City Wednesday morning.

In this city, a man and woman were arrested during a buy-bust operation along Notre Dame Avenue and seized PHP680,000 worth of shabu drugs.

A team from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) and Cotabato City Police Office arrested a certain “Norya”, 55, and “Ricky”, a security guard, during the entrapment.
Authorities said the suspects yielded some 100 grams of shabu and other pieces of evidence.

“We have been tailing them for the past three weeks before today’s arrest,” PDEA’s “Agent Datu” told reporters in an interview.

In Marawi City, police and anti-narcotics agents also nabbed a drug peddler and seized from him 50 grams of shabu worth PHP340,000 during a drug sting operation in Barangay Sugod.

The suspect is now under police custody while charges for violation of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, are being prepared for filing in court. (PNA)
