Letran rolls to 5th straight win in NCAA juniors’ basketball

MANILA – Letran clobbered Arellano University, 106-85, to extend its winning streak to five in the NCAA Season 99 juniors’ basketball at the Filoil EcoOil Arena in San Juan on Wednesday.

Daniel Padilla had a game-high 28 points to go with six rebounds, three assists, and two steals while Jolo Navarro chipped in 19 points, 22 rebounds, and two steals as the defending champion Squires kept solo leadership at 6-1.

Moses Manalili contributed 14 points, nine assists, four steals, and two rebounds, while Justine Hugo added 10 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and a steal for Letran, which sent the Brave to their sixth loss in seven outings.

In the other game, San Sebastian College-Recoletos downed College of Saint Benilde, 76-67, behind Rion Porcadas with scored 22 points, including five triples, and had 10 rebounds and three steals.

Jhun Peñaverde had 19 points, six rebounds, and five steals while Ruvic Danag added 12 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two steals, and one block for San Sebastian, which now has five wins against three losses.

Guillian Quines had 22 points, nine rebounds, three steals, and two assists for the Junior Blazers, who absorbed their fifth loss in seven outings.

James Ison contributed 13 points and four rebounds, while Gian Gomez and Arie Podador added 11 and 10 points, respectively. (PNA)
