CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Two separate drug buy-bust operations conducted by lawmen here and in Cabuyao City over the weekend resulted in the arrest of four individuals allegedly involved in the drug trade, the Laguna Provincial Police Office (LPPO) said on Monday.

Col. Gauvin Mel Unos, acting director of the LPPO, said a total of PHP1.3 million worth of shabu was seized in the two operations.

In Calamba, two female suspects identified only as “Khara” and “Nora,” both residents of Dasmariñas, Cavite, were arrested at a bus terminal in Barangay Paciano on Saturday evening while trying to sell 133 grams of shabu to undercover cops, he said.

The quantity of narcotics confiscated from the two has an estimated street value of PHP779,000, he added.

Meanwhile, two suspects identified only as “Rommel” and “Maria” were arrested on Sunday when they tried to sell some 80 grams of shabu to undercover police officers in Barangay Mamatid, Cabuyao City.

The drugs seized from the duo are estimated to have a street value of PHP544,000.

The arrested individuals are currently detained at Calamba City Police Station and Cabuyao City Police Station, respectively, while charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002, are being prepared against them, the provincial police chief said.

The confiscated evidence has been sent to the Region IV-A Forensic Unit at Camp Vicente Lim for further analysis.

Unos urged the public to cooperate with authorities by reporting any illegal activities they may witness.

“We encourage the cooperation of the public in identifying and reporting those involved in illegal activities so that we can achieve a safe and prosperous community for all,” he added. (PNA)
