MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday said his mother, former First Lady Imelda Marcos, is “on the path to recovery” following his bout with slight pneumonia.

“My mother is feeling much better,” Marcos said in an X post, as he gave an update on his mother’s health condition.

“In consultation with her medical team, it has been confirmed that her fever is gradually subsiding, and she is on the path to recovery,” he added.

Marcos said he visited his 94-year-old mother in hospital when he returned to Manila on Wednesday night after his trip to Melbourne, Australia.

He said the former First Lady was “awake, alert, and even up at midnight” when he visited her. She will remain in the hospital until she is done taking antibiotics.

“We've decided to keep her in the hospital until she finishes her prescribed course of antibiotic treatment. This measure will also afford her the necessary rest and continuous medical supervision,” he said.

Marcos also thanked the public for their concerns and well-wishes for his mother.

The President on Tuesday confirmed that his mother is suffering from slight pneumonia and has a fever but is “in good spirits” (PNA)
