DUMAGUETE CITY – The Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will assist the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the identification and updating of active and de-listed beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The CBMS is the latest program of the PSA, aimed at collecting vital information and data from households, and will be implemented this year, according to Engr. Ariel Fortuito, PSA-Negros Oriental chief, in an interview with Philippine News Agency on Monday.
All the towns and cities in Negros Oriental have completed the CBMS, with Dumaguete City the last remaining LGU to be surveyed soon, he said.
Fortuito noted that data collection under the CBMS is seen to suffice all the requirements for a full census, which could eventually lead to the postponement of the 2025 Census of Population and Housing conducted every 10 years.
Fortuito added that whatever data collected through the CBMS would practically fulfill the requirements of the census.
To hold the CBMS this year and the census next year is “too close to each other” and would entail more budgetary requirements, he said.
The CBMS aims to collect data from every household to help government agencies identify beneficiaries of programs on poverty alleviation and economic development.
Statistical data on education, health, community participation, food security, and disaster experience would be among those gathered during the CBMS.
Fortuito said some enumerators, team supervisors, and census area supervisors will be deployed by April or May to collect information in all sectors. (PNA)
