MANILA – Several areas in the country will experience rain showers due to the shear line and the northeast monsoon or "amihan", the weather bureau said Thursday.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line will prevail over Aurora, Quezon and Camarines Norte.

Moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. weather forecast.

The shear line is also forecast to bring light rains over Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region.

Amihan, on the other hand, will bring isolated light rains over Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA forecaster Benison Estareja said the easterlies could cause humid weather mostly in Southern Luzon.

The bureau is expecting Metro Manila and the rest of the country to experience isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Estareja said no tropical cyclone is expected to develop in the country until the weekend.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon, the Visayas, and the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
