MANILA – Petro Gazz defeated Capital1 Solar Spikers, 25-11, 25-19, 25-14, to boost its semifinal bid in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City on Tuesday.

Brooke Anne Van Sickle had 19 points as the Angels improved their record to 5-2, staying within striking distance of joint leaders Creamline, Choco Mucho and PLDT, which all toted 5-1 cards.

Jonaj Sabete chipped in five spikes, two blocks and two aces, while skipper Mary Remy Joy Palma added seven points. Kecelyn Galdones and setter Ivy Perez contributed six points each.

“It’s good to get a win coming off a loss. I’m really proud of my team for being able to bounce back the way we did,” said Van Sickle, who also had seven digs.

The Solar Spikers dropped to 1-6 with Maria Lourdes Clemente topscoring with six points. Heather Anne Guino-o added five points while Janeca Janine Lana and Sydney Mae Niegos had four points apiece.

The tournament will take a Holy Week break and resume on April 2 with PLDT taking on Akari and Choco Mucho going up against Galeries Tower. (PNA)
