BUTUAN CITY – The Land Transportation Office in Trento, Agusan del Sur (LTO-Trento) has intensified the implementation of Oplan Semana Santa 2024 to ensure the safety of motorists and travelers throughout the Holy Week.

Trento is considered the gateway of the Caraga Region from other areas in Mindanao, particularly the Davao Region and Region 12 (Soccsksargen).

“This Oplan is part of the advocacy of the LTO nationwide and at the regional level to provide safety measures for travelers and motorists, especially during this occasion,” LTO-Trento chief Greg Patrick Pabelonia said in a phone interview on Wednesday.

Aside from the conduct of roadside operations, Pabelonia said, LTO personnel will also provide assistance desks in public terminals where travelers can bring their inquiries and other concerns.

“Part of the road worthiness we will look into are the conditions of the engines, tires, brakes, and other important components of vehicles,” he said.

During roadside operations, pertinent documents of the drivers and vehicles and road worthiness will also be checked by LTO personnel, he added.

“Starting today (Wednesday), we are expecting an increase of volume of the entry of vehicles and travelers in our region for the Holy Week,” Pabelonia said, adding that Oplan Semana Santa 2024 will last until April 1. (PNA)
