MANILA – The ridge of a high-pressure area (HPA) and the easterlies will continue to bring warm and humid weather across the country, a weather forecaster said Thursday.

"The HPA, which is the opposite of LPA (low pressure area) reduces cloud formation and brings a generally fair weather, but this will also cause rains over the eastern section of Northern Luzon," Benison Estareja of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Estareja added that while the easterlies bring warm and humid weather, it will also bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Davao Region and Soccsksargen.

It added that moderate to heavy rains in those areas could result in flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country could also experience isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

The temperature in Tuguegarao could reach up to 36 °C, up to 34 °C in Laoag, Kalayaan Islands, Puerto Princesa, and up to 33 °C in Metro Manila, Iloilo and Tagaytay.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas continue to prevail across the archipelago.

Estareja, meanwhile, said no tropical cyclone is expected to develop throughout the week. (PNA)
