MANILA – The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) will be offering free rides to all commuters at the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) during the Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) holiday on April 9.

In an advisory on Friday, the LRTA—the operator and maintenance provider of the LRT-2—said the free rides will be available to the public from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. during the day.

LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera said the free ride service is part of the LRTA’s participation and appreciation of the Day of Valor.

“Isang pagpupugay po sa mga beterano at sa modern-day heroes lalo na po sa sektor ng transportasyon (This is to salute our veterans and modern day heroes especially those in the transportation sector),” Cabrera said.

Earlier, both the LRT-2 and the MRT-3 announced week-long free rides to registered veterans plus one companion in celebration of the Philippine Veterans’ Week from April 5 to 11.

To avail of the free rides for veterans, a valid Philippine Veterans Affairs Office identification card must be presented to station personnel. (PNA)
