MANILA – The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone, the weather bureau said Tuesday.
The LPA's trough, however, is forecast to affect some areas in Mindanao, Rhea Torres of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.
This will cause scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Davao Region, South Cotabato, and Sarangani.
Moderate to heavy rain showers in those areas could also result in flash floods or landslides.
The rest of the country could experience isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
"We do not see cloud clusters that could bring rains over the rest of the country due to the ridge of a high pressure area. The chance to experience rain is slim," Torres said.
Warm temperatures and generally fair weather are expected, up to 38 °C in Tuguegarao and up to 35 °C in Metro Manila and Laoag.
The temperature in Iloilo, Puerto Princesa and Kalayaan Islands could reach up to 34 °C, and up to 33 in Tacloban, Cebu, Zamboanga and Davao.
In Dagupan City, Pangasinan, the heat index or what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air temperature could reach 46 °C.
Aparri in Cagayan and Zamboanga City's heat index could reach 43 °C.
PAGASA considers 41 °C to 51 °C heat index as danger level, wherein heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely. Continued exposure could also cause heat stroke.
Meanwhile, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are forecast across the archipelago. (PNA)
