MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) have so far confiscated a total of PHP8.8 million worth of illegal drugs this year from Jan. 1 to March 31.

In a phone interview on Tuesday, PPPO information officer Capt. Renante dela Cruz said PHP8.5 million worth of shabu with total weight of 1.253 grams, and PHP319,440 worth of marijuana weighing 2,662 grams were seized in the first quarter this year.

He said 280 drug suspects were arrested and 14 others surrendered in 224 operations.

"Cases were filed against the suspects," he said.

PPPO's latest operation involved a 45-year-old male from Navotas City, who yielded almost 500 grams of suspected shabu worth around PHP3.4 million during a buy-bust in Rosales town on March 23.

"The suspect has been under monitoring for a couple of weeks already," Dela Cruz said.

The Ilocos Police Regional Office (PRO-1) said the suspect is considered as a high-value target, given the amount of illegal drugs he was transacting. (PNA)
