MANILA – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) on Wednesday backed the military's stance to rally behind the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

"We salute the Armed Forces of the Philippines for strongly rejecting the call to withdraw support for the President… There is no moral reason to divide our people by sowing unfounded fears against imagined threats," Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III said in a statement.

Estrella joined other government officials in condemning Davao del Norte Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez's call for the military and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to withdraw their support from Marcos amid issues on the West Philippine Sea.

The two uniformed services both shrugged off the call, affirming their resolve to protect the Constitution and stand with the President as their commander-in-chief.

Moreover, Estrella insisted that all public servants must continue to fulfill duties in favor of the Filipino people.

"We should, instead, find every reason to work together, to unite, whatever our political persuasions may be, to advance national development on all fronts," he added.

Estrella also called on government officials to strengthen their unity and willingness to work together to make life better for Filipinos.

“Let’s roll up our sleeves and buckle down to work. Together, let us leave no room for divisiveness and partisan political interests,” he noted.

To date, Estrella said the Marcos administration has been advancing several measures to realize food security, secure accessible and equitable education, ensure better healthcare services, provide socialized housing for poor Filipinos, boost trade and investments, and push for public infrastructures, among others.
