MANILA – For leading Choco Mucho to the finals of the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference on Sunday, Sisi Rondina was named the Press Corps Player of the Week for the period April 30 to May 5.

The 27-year-old outside hitter sizzled with 32 points as the Flying Titans prevailed over the Petro Gazz Angels, 23-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-20, for a sweep of the round-robin Final Four.

Choco Mucho will meet defending champion and sister team Creamline in the best-of-three title series starting Thursday.

Thankful kami, hindi lang dahil sa akin. ‘Yung mindset namin sa isa't isa, lalo na ‘yung mga naglalaro like nakikita mo talaga sa mukha -- atin to, kaya natin ito (We are thankful, not just because of me. Our mindset is for each other, especially those who play, like you can really see in their faces -- this is ours, we can do this)," Rondina, a former University of Santo Tomas standout, said in a news release.

Ang ginagawa talaga namin ‘yung mapigilan ‘yung kalaro namin na makapuntos sa amin. Sumusunod lang kami sa sistema, sa play namin (What we are really doing is preventing our opponents from scoring on us. We just follow the system in our plays)," the four-time UAAP beach volleyball Most Valuable Player added.

Rondina scored 23 points in their 13-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-20, 18-16 upset win over Creamline.

In their 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 win over Chery Tiggo on May 2, she had 18 points to go with 14 digs and 10 receptions.

Rondina got all 16 votes from print and online scribes to beat Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza of Creamline, and Brooke Van Sickle and Jonah Sabete of Petro Gazz. (PNA)
