MANILA – The country will continue to experience warm and humid weather due to the easterlies, a forecaster said Wednesday.

"Many areas, including Metro Manila, however, will continue to experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening," added Daniel James Villamil of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will also continue to prevail across the archipelago.

Meanwhile, PAGASA forecast at least 18 areas to experience a danger level heat index, peaking at 45 degrees in Virac, Catanduanes; Roxas City, Capiz; and Guian, Eastern Samar.

Heat indices or what the temperature feels like to the human body when relative humidity is combined with the air, ranging from 42°C to 44°C are likely in the following areas:

Aborlan, Palawan – 44°C

Cuyo, Palawan – 44°C

Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 43°C

Bacnotan, La Union – 43°C

Alabat, Quezon – 43°C

San Jose, Occidental Mindoro – 43°C

Masbate City, Masbate – 43°C

Iloilo City, Iloilo – 43°C

Dumangas, Iloilo – 43°C

Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur – 43°C

CLSU, Muñoz, Nueva Ecija – 42°C

Puerto Princesa City, Palawan – 42°C

Legazpi City, Albay – 42°C

CBSUA Pili, Camarines Sur – 42°C

Cotabato City, Maguindanao – 42°C

Under danger levels or 41°C to 51°C heat indices, heat cramps, and heat exhaustion are likely to occur.

Continued exposure could also cause heat stroke, according to PAGASA.

Meanwhile, no weather disturbance is expected for the next three to five days, Villamil said.  (PNA)
