LEGAZPI CITY – The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) arrested 122 drug personalities and seized PHP6.1 million worth of illegal drugs during various drug operations in the six provinces of the region last April.

In a report on Wednesday, Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, PRO5 spokesperson, said among the arrested drug suspects, 15 were identified as high-value and 107 as street-level individuals.

Calubaquib said the 122 drug suspects were arrested from the 117 operations conducted including buy-bust operations, serving of arrest warrants and implementation of search warrants, among others.

The seized illegal drugs consisted of 906.6470 grams of shabu and 53.1900 grams of marijuana with a total market value of PHP6.1 million.

Among all the provinces, Camarines Norte recorded the highest amount of seized drugs at PHP1.7 million; followed by Masbate, PHP1.4 million; and Camarines Sur, PHP1.2 million.

In a statement, PRO5 Regional Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said the successful operations underscore the relentless efforts of the Bicol police in curbing the proliferation of illegal drugs within the region.

He said the PRO5's commitment to ensuring peace and security remains firm.

“Together, we stand united in our efforts to create a safer and drug-free environment for all Bicolanos," he added.

Meanwhile, PRO5 also successfully secured four major events in Albay for April and early May this year -- the Bicol Loco Festival, the Palarong Bicol, the opening of the Magayon Festival and the fluvial procession of the Image of Our Lady of Salvation from Tiwi town to Legazpi City. (PNA)
