DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) warned residents on Friday against individuals involved in falsifying public documents.

This came after two suspects were apprehended in an entrapment operation on Thursday afternoon for forging documents in a printing services stall inside a mall here.

DCPO spokesperson Capt. Hazel Tuazon said their office has received complaints and information that the print business stall is illegally printing public utility jeepney identification (ID) cards.

She noted that such IDs should be issued by the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) only.

"The team conducted surveillance and found out that the information is true. That's why the entrapment operation was conducted," Tuazon said in an interview.

Based on the information, she said, the suspects have been doing illegal ID printing for quite some time.

Penalties for falsification of public documents include six months and one day of imprisonment with monetary fines.

Personnel of the DCPO's San Pedro police station, the Anti-Scam Unit of Davao City, and the CTTMO caught the suspects at Diaz Mall in this city. Authorities confiscated one set of computers with two printers and one laminating machine.

In a statement, DCPO director, Col. Richard Bad-ang, urged residents to join the police in protecting the city by reporting illegal activities.

"The DCPO will pursue any individuals who commit deeds that jeopardize the city's safety and welfare," he said. (PNA)
