MANILA – The five Filipinos onboard the Singapore-bound flight that made an emergency landing in Bangkok after experiencing severe turbulence are in stable condition on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said one of the five Filipino passengers who suffered a neck fracture is in “sensitive” but stable condition.
She is Singapore-based overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in the information technology sector.
The DMW said it will continue to monitor the five Filipino passengers that also include a family of three with a two-year-old male toddler.
The toddler’s mother is a registered staff nurse in the United Kingdom (UK). Her husband has no record as an OFW.
The fifth Filipino passenger, a male, has no record also as an OFW.
The DMW said the passengers were taken to various hospitals in Bangkok where they underwent a series of medical and physical tests.
“Doctors are still reviewing the test results to evaluate their condition and determine further treatment,” it said.
The DMW’s Migrant Workers Office in Singapore (MWO-SG) assured that with the Philippine Embassy in Bangkok, they will continue to monitor their condition until they are discharged and can continue their journey.
The plane was reportedly about 10 hours into its flight and midway through meal service when the extreme turbulence struck, throwing the passengers who were not wearing seatbelts around the cabin and forcing the plane to make an emergency landing in Thailand. (PNA)
