DA to assist farmers affected by climate change

In line with the vision of President Rodrigo Duterte, AMIA (Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture) has modernized its tools and continuously develop plans that will help agricultural livelihood cope up with climate change. Agriculture will be the first to be affected by climate change,” said Segfredo R. Serrano (right) Undersecretary for Policy & Planning of the Department of Agriculture (DA), in a press conference on Tuesday (March 7, 2017). In continuous efforts of DA to assist the farmers affected by climate change, AMIA keeps on developing the “climate change adaption tool” called Nutrient Expert with the help of International Plant Nutrition Institute. To address agricultural needs such as pest monitoring and post disaster assessment, the Department of Agriculture is also improving its technology such as standardizing the designs of drones (right photo) for surveillance.
