Establishment of satellite-based weather forecasting in PHL

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) launch the Establishment of Communication, Ocean & Meteorological Satellite (COMS) Analysis System in the Philippines at the PAGASA compound in Quezon City on Wednesday (May 17, 2017). Korea's geostationary multi-purpose satellite is stationed at an altitude of 36,000 km above the Earth’s equator performing the duties of meteorological and ocean observations and communications services including data for weather forecasting.
