CEBU CITY -- Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III turned over three agriculture projects worth PHP1.3 million to barangays Alambijud and Anajao in the southern town of Argao on Wednesday.

The governor inaugurated a PHP450,000 small water-impounding concrete tank and a PHP350,000 greenhouse unit in upland Alambijud, as well as a PHP500,000 farmers’ trading post in Anajao, Kevin Cañizares of the Cebu Provincial Public Information Office said Thursday.

The water-impounding tank can store up to 12,500 liters of water, enough to irrigate some 50 hectares of land, Cañizares said.

With the construction of the tank, Alambijud farmers no longer need to walk 2 km., carrying containers of water for their farmlands.

The trading post, on the other hand, was constructed in response to Davide’s directive to give farmers in Anajao a decent place to display and sell their harvests.

Davide also distributed seedlings and a power water sprayer during the inauguration and attended the graduation ceremony of 42 Alambijud farmers who completed their 18-week training on organic farming.

Provincial Board Member Jose Mari Salvador and Argao Municipal Mayor Stanley Caminero also graced the event, along with barangay officials of Alambijud and Anajao. (PNA)
