SAN JOSE de BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expressed deep appreciation to the media, during Monday evening’s “Pasasalamat” held at the Westown Hotel in Iloilo City, for their help in promoting its various programs

Regional Director Rebecca Geamala said DSWD OIC Emmanuel A. Leyco has relayed his personal gratitude as the support and good relationship of the DSWD-6 with the media in Western Visayas did not escape unnoticed.

“As long as there is DSWD, the media will be our strong partner,” Geamala said.

She said the media did not only drumbeat the programs and services of the DSWD, particularly the Pantawid Pamilya Pilipino Program (4Ps), but also relayed to the department the need of poor families.

“The media are there to also tell us of the reactions and longings of the public to be addressed by DSWD,” Geamala said.
She also cited how the media played its role in the DSWD's efforts in the aftermath of the closure of the island of Boracay in Aklan province.
“As the DSWD staff busied themselves in assisting the displaced workers, the media were also there reporting on what we were doing,” Geamala said.

She said that the DSWD is really proud of the support extended by the press.

Among the media partners that were given awards by the DSWD during the ceremony were the Antique and Iloilo bureaus of the Philippine News Agency. (PNA)
