BACOLOD CITY -- Three local government units (LGUs) and 23 micro and small enterprises from Negros Occidental were selected by the provincial government to take part in the International Food Exposition (IFEX) Philippines on May 25 to 27 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
The LGUs include the cities of Cadiz and Himamaylan, and Manapla town.
The enterprises are the New Wave Exporters Inc., HLS Aqua Products, Fishta Seafoods, Gem Foods International Inc., Satoca, Kusina Jamora, Ereñeta-Manaloto, Ading’s Gourmet Tuyo, Fresh Start Organics, MFK, Alter Trade Corp., Organic Producers in the Island of Negros Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Jarvis Gourmet Foods, Virgie’s Homemade Products, Norgi’s, Elizabeth, Anyols, Ophelia’’s Food Products, Melva’s Foods, Anna Prado, Oyen’s Food Products, Bobette’s Delicacies, and Sir Jess Enterprise.
Capitol executive assistant Joy Ogan said majority of the enterprises tapped for the exhibit are among the 40 producers assisted by the province’s Technology and Livelihood Development Center.
The provincial government allocated about PHP800,000 to assist the exhibitors on freight and space rental fees.
Ogan said this will be the fourth time that Negros Occidental will participate in the food expo.
This will help local producers enhance market opportunities and linkages, and find more potential clients and buyers, she added.
IFEX Philippines, organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions of the Department of Trade and Industry, is the country’s biggest international trade exhibition on the Philippines and Asia’s ethnic and specialty food, tropical fruits, vegetables, seafood, beverages, bakery and confectionery products, meat and poultry, Halal-certified products as well as natural, organic, and healthy food products.
Negros Occidental’s booth at the international pavilion will reportedly feature four exporters. The retail section will carry premium seafood and non-seafood commodities, including muscovado and organic brown sugars, condiments, chips and pastries. (PNA)
