C. Luzon cops gear up for June 4 school opening

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- The Police Regional Office 3 (Central Luzon) will deploy some 1,873 police personnel in different areas in the region as part of its security measures for the opening of classes on June 4.

Chief Supt. Amador Corpus, PRO 3 regional director, on Friday said the police personnel would provide public safety and police visibility in schools, colleges, universities and its nearby areas, which are most likely to be the chosen target place of criminal elements.

Corpus said police assistance desks, manned by a team with a police commissioned officer as its leader, will also be established in every school on June 4 to pre-empt and respond for any eventuality.

The PRO3 chief added he has directed all field officers to personally visit the different schools in the region and coordinate with school officials in order to deter lawless elements from doing illegal activities such as hold-up, pick-pocketing, snatching, drug pushing and even kidnapping of students.

Corpus further said police will be working hand in hand with auxiliaries for traffic control and direction wherein, volume of students will travel to and from the various schools in the different provinces/cities.

“Once again, I am calling for the cooperation of the public to prevent any crime in the community especially in our learning institutions by providing authorities relevant and timely information to us,” he added. (PNA)
